NFL Network Host Calls Out 'Homophobic' Caleb Williams Haters In Viral Rant
Good Morning Football – the daily morning show on NFL Network – is one day away from going on a long hiatus until training camp.
Evidently, that means the gloves are OFF for longtime host Kyle Brandt, who took a blowtorch to all the Caleb Williams haters out there making fun of his pink phone and nails.
Brandt, who has been with the show since it's inception in 2016, came out of the gates Thursday with a wild rant on the recent backlash Williams received after he surfaced earlier this week at a basketball game with a pink cell phone and a nice set of lavish nails.
Brandt, who's an absolute firecracker on that show, didn't hold back:
The Caleb Williams rant was a bit much, but that's expected
Tell us how you really feel, Kyle! Goodness gracious, talk about (possibly) going out with a bang.
For those who don't know, GMFB is set to go dark after Friday's show and will take the next four months off while the show moves from New York to the network's main studio in LA.
Anyway, back to Kyle Brandt …
"A big 'ol dollop of homophobia on top of it" and "caveman Twitter" are the two phrases that obviously stick out. Those struck a nerve with folks, for obvious reasons.
Look, the discourse surrounding Caleb Williams is HOT right now. Scorching. It's the Caleb and Caitlin (Clark, duh) show right now in the US of A. Feel like you either love both or hate both.
I think Caleb is a little out there. Don't think that's going out on a limb by any means. I mean, the guy paints his nails. I did that too back in the day, but I was a catcher. So let's just call it as we see it – weird. Doesn't mean it's wrong, but it's weird.
Same with the phone. And is that lip-gloss? I don't know. Hand to God, I don't know. But it's still just not something you see every day.
And I think Caleb Williams is gonna be awesome, by the way. I think he's a bit of a mental case right now, but if he can grow out of that – that could be a big if, by the way – he should be good.
He's no Rex Grossman, but that's neither here nor there.
As for Brandt's comments … I've said this for a while about Kyle Brandt – I think he jumped the shark a long time ago. He used to be awesome on Good Morning Football. Loved him. Loved that show.
But then it got really popular, and Kyle Brandt got really popular, and all of a sudden, he was everywhere. And it just became a bit much. I think his whole shtick is a bit much.
I haven't scrolled Twitter looking at all the scorching hot Caleb Williams takes because I value my sanity, but I would assume there are plenty of not-so-great ones on there. So, I assume Kyle has a point here.
Did he stare into the camera and act a little dramatic about it? Of course. Like I said, that's his thing. Bringing it back to my world of blogging, it gets the clicks. That above video?
Viral. Mega viral. Almost 700,000 views. I'm sure the league office loved it. Win-win for Kyle.
But I don't think anyone pointing out that Caleb Williams is a bit of an odd bird for painting his nails is homophobic. There's always a line to cross when it comes to these things, though. Search long enough, and you'll find it.
PS: how about that little shot at Big Tuna Big Parcells? Come on, Kyle. You're better than that.
Tread lightly.
