NFL Hall Of Famer Terrell Davis Dragged Off Plane In Handcuffs, Airline Apologizes
Former NFL running back and Hall of Famer Terrell Davis is highly outraged after a flight gone wrong over the weekend.
Davis boarded a United Airlines flight from Denver to Southern California with his wife and two sons and was later dragged off the plane in handcuffs when they landed at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.
The incident reportedly involved a United attendant who claimed that Davis "hit" him. Davis said that he tapped an attendant to request a cup of ice for his son before the flight arrived at its destination.
Once the flight landed, passengers on Davis' flight were asked to remain seated while six FBI and law enforcement agents handcuffed Davis, 51. Davis cooperated with the authorities and was released.
The former Denver Broncos player released a lengthy statement on his social media, criticizing United Airlines for their disrespectful treatment and providing his account of the scene.
Davis' statement read, in part:
"During questioning, it was rightfully determined by the agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate in his accusations and the agents profusely apologized even offering to support me and my family in any way possible.
"I have yet to hear anything from United Airlines. The traumatizing experience of my two sons, my daughter, and my wife watching me being placed in handcuffs without due process or any explanation cannot be undone."
United Airlines released a statement, apologizing to the Broncos icon and two-time Super Bowl champ for the scene.
"This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize," United responded.
