NASCAR Champ Kyle Busch Stirs Pot With Dale Earnhardt Comment
NASCAR champ Kyle Busch has gone from zero to hero in recent years in the eyes of automobile fans across this great country.
People used to HATE him. I'm talking louder boos than Bubba Wallace would get at pre-race intros, which is saying something.
But recently – and I'm talking the past two years – Rowdy has gone through some weird transformation where he's actually one of the most popular drivers in the garage. There's a new villain in the sport, and his name is Denny Hamlin.
Kyle Busch, meanwhile, is all of a sudden in everyone's good graces …
… until now, of course!
Busch did what us #content bloggers love most and stirred the NASCAR Twitter pot yesterday when he was asked who would win a drag race coming to the finish line at Bristol – him or the late Dale Earnhardt.
No shot Kyle Busch or Dale Earnhardt are coming to the checkered in one piece
He's 100% right, by the way. I've long said Kyle Busch is this generation's Dale Earnhardt – which I know you hardcore Dale fans love! – and this further proves my point.
It's exactly the answer Earnhardt would give, and it's probably the exact result you'd get if these two maniacs ever wound up in this position.
Could you imagine if Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt were fighting for the lead at Bristol – arguably the roughest, toughest, most unforgiving track on the NASCAR circuit? It would be chaos.
Historically, there is only one real lane at Bristol, and that's the bottom one. If you wanna pass people, you have to basically go through them, which means you're either moving them up the track … or wrecking them.
We've seen both variations over the years, especially from Earnhardt.
I mean, this is one of the most memorable Dale moments of all time:
It's not often you saw Dale Earnhardt get showered with boos, which made that little move all the more legendary. He didn't care what the fans thought. Checkers or wreckers, you know.
Kyle Busch, by the way, knows the feeling. Like I said, he may be popular now, but it wasn't always that way.
And if you thought Dale didn't care …
Yeah, Rowdy really doesn't care.
As for the original comment from Busch earlier this week, again – I'm all in. 100% agree.
It also got the fans all fired up on NASCAR Twitter, which is always a fun time. Just make sure you bring your hard-hat if you dare join the comments section, because it's a bloodbath.
Who do you think wins in this hypothetical race to the finish at Bristol?
