ESPN Star Shares Bizarre Comments About Caitlin Clark And UConn's Paige Bueckers

Molly Qerim thinks Paige Bueckers' health is somehow tied to Caitlin Clark's incredible success.

Bueckers and Clark will battle it out Friday night when UConn and Iowa take the court in the Final Four. It should be an absolutely incredible night of college basketball, and millions of fans can't wait to watch it unfold.

There's an extra layer of drama because Clark wanted to be recruited by UConn, but it never happened. Paige Bueckers was crowned the chosen one for the Huskies and Clark turned into a star for Iowa. The latter became the highest-scorer and most popular player in America.

For some weird reason, Qerim thinks Clark wouldn't be nearly as popular if Bueckers hadn't missed time with a torn ACL and a tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscus tear.

Molly Qerim shares wild Caitlin Clark/Paige Bueckers take.

Qerim bizarrely told the audience, "If Paige Bueckers didn't basically miss two seasons, I don't know if we'd be talking about Caitlin Clark the way we are right now."

Yes, in the mind of Molly Qerim, Caitlin Clark wouldn't be so successful if *checks notes* a player on a different team in a different conference hadn't struggled with injuries.

In what world does that make any sense? You can watch her full comments below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

This is a wild take from Molly Qerim, and it doesn't even make sense. Whether Paige Bueckers is healthy or not has absolutely no impact on what Clark has done.

Clark is popular because she rewrote the record books and did it while being an awesome role model. Whether Bueckers is playing or not literally makes no difference.

The idea that if Bueckers was healthy, then nobody would know who Clark is as a basketball star is so detached from reality that it's hard to believe it's real.

Bueckers is a great player in her own right, and certainly came into college with way more hype than Clark. However, whether the UConn sensation is healthy or not doesn't change the fact Clark is the most famous college basketball player in America. That's just a fact.
