Mike Vrabel Sprints Around Browns Training Camp As NFL Season Nears

Clearly sensing that we're in the doldrums of July and thirsting for football, Mike Vrabel and the Cleveland Browns elected to quench our thirst with a tall frosty mug of football porn.

And we can't thank them enough.

On Thursday, Vrabel, formerly the Titans head coach and now a consultant with Cleveland, took the field with the Browns as they opened training camp. But Vrabel wasn't just teaching technique, drawing plays in the dirt or operating as a sounding board for head coach Kevin Stefanski. He was dusting off that combine-measured 4.94 forty and running sprints with the fellas.

Vrabel apparently races Cleveland backup quarterback Jameis Winston during each practice and, thankfully, the Browns social media team was there to catch it Thursday.

"…we thought you all needed to witness it," the Browns X account posted in part.

They couldn't be more right.

Mike Vrabel Sprinting Reminds Us NFL Is Getting Closer

Vrabel and Winston racing across the green grass like a couple of 12-year-olds is exactly what we need. We've gone too long without football. This is the football Gods telling us they haven't forgotten about us. Soon, we'll have the Hall of Fame Game, Liev Schreiber will lend his pipes to Hard Knocks, the Cowboys will lose a bunch of games, and Russell Wilson will do something cringe.

And all will be right in the world.

In the meantime, we've got 48-year-old Vrabel getting the lead out (mostly) side-by-side with everybody's favorite W-eating quarterback, Winston.

Vrabel's training camp sprints aren't just an NFL appetizer, they're also a subtle reminder that the old man might still be able to do some damage between the white lines. Vrabes looks every bit like the 6'4, 260 pounds he was listed at during his 14-year playing career. Maybe the wheels aren't quite what they used to be (same here), but it appears there's plenty of gas left in the tank.

Most importantly, football is all but back.

Drink it up.
