Mike Tyson Needs Time To Recover From Ulcer Flare Up, Fight With Jake Paul Postponed
Remember that medical issue Mike Tyson had on a cross-country flight last week? Turns out, it’s a little more serious than we first guessed.
On a flight from Miami to Los Angeles earlier this week, Tyson had an ulcer flare up as the plane prepared to land. Fortunately, paramedics were able to treat him soon after the plane touched down, and a major crisis was averted for the time being.
However, earlier today, the former heavyweight world champion announced that doctors have recommended that he scale back his training regimen. As such, his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul (originally scheduled for July 20), will be postponed.
"I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover," Tyson said in a statement. "My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon."

The new date for the fight will be announced on June 7.
Despite the setback, Tyson is still as motivated as ever to get back in the ring, and he issued a strong warning to Paul in his press release.
"Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year."
Originally, the fight was scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium In Arlington, TX. It’s unclear if the venue for the fight will change as well.
