Miami Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel Fired Up About The Florida Panthers And Stanley Cup Final
For the fourth season in a row, some Stanley Cup Final games will be played in the great state of Florida (I know Tampa was in the Final in 2020, but that was in the COVID bubble, so no games were played in Florida).
However, the newness hasn't worn off with the Panthers in their second straight Cup Final appearance and many people are pumped about it, including Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who says he'll be watching when they take on the Edmonton Oilers.
McDaniel was asked about the Cats' upcoming series against the Edmonton Oilers and he voiced his excitement about seeing them getting another shot at winning the greatest trophy in sports.
"Absolutely. I mean, Do I have a pulse?" McDaniel said. "I do. I’ll be there watching."
This could be the edge the Panthers need.
McDavid isn't hopping on the Panthers bandwagon this season. He was on hand during the team's last playoff run and even handled drum duties ahead of Game 4 of the Panther's Eastern Conference Final series with the Carolina Hurricanes which ended in a Florida sweep.
Was McDaniel's drumming the thing that sealed that series? There's no way to prove that it wasn't.
However, the Panthers could've used a bit more of that magic in the Cup Final where they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in five games.
I have no idea what's in store for this series, but I know it's going to be a good one. You've got the Panthers with some serious depth, strong goaltending, and a hard-nosed style that makes them a handful in a playoff series.
But on the other hand, Edmonton has two of the best offensive players in the world in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl plus solid depth and goaltending, both of which were problems in other McDavid-Draisaitl era playoff appearances.
But, I think this series could go either way, and a little Mike McDaniel drumming could tip the scale in Florida's favor.
