Michigan QB Jack Tuttle Will Come Back For A Seventh Year Of College Football
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle is officially a college football lifer.
Reports emerged this weekend that Tuttle is returning for his senior season. But it's not a typical situation where a guy comes back for his fourth and final year before heading to the NFL.
Tuttle is returning for his seventh college football season. Reports of the news emerged Saturday after the quarterback posted a highlight reel of his time last season.
The reel is not that extensive because he didn’t see the field all that much. As you can see from the occasional score graphic in the reel, Tuttle only played when the Wolverines were up by an insurmountable margin (which wasn’t super uncommon for their 2023-24 campaign).
While he only appeared in six games for the Maize n’ Blue, Tuttle made the most of his brief time on the field. In six total games, he completed 15 of 17 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. As you see in the highlight reel, his one touchdown pass game against Indiana, the school he transferred from before the 2023 season. He began his career in 2018 at Utah, where he redshirted.
Despite a boatload of experience at this level, Tuttle won’t win the starting job easily. He’ll have to compete with capable backup Alex Orji and highly-touted recruit Jayden Denegal to earn the starts on Saturdays. He’ll have to convince offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell that his experience means something.
But regardless of what happens, Tuttle will certainly enjoy the ride. After all, he wouldn’t have asked for a seventh season of college football if he didn’t.
