Michael Porter, Jr.'s Brother Arrested For DWI, Third Family Incident In Past Month

Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter, Jr. has been dealing with issues related to his brothers for the past few weeks.

MPJ's brother, Jontay Porter, received a lifetime ban by the NBA for betting on games.

Shortly after the groundbreaking ban, brother Coban Porter received six years in prison for a fatal drunk-driving incident.

Fast-forward several weeks, and now, 20-year-old Jevon Porter — MPJ's younger brother and former Pepperdine basketball standout — deals with his arrest in Boone County (Mo.) after Missouri State Highway Patrol members stopped Jevon for speeding.

Jevon was arrested Friday night, pending charges, for speeding and suspicion of DWI, according to a report by Power Mizzou.

Porter was released Saturday morning on summons and was not booked in jail, according to Missouri State Sgt. Kyle Green, speaking with ESPN.

The college hooper opted to transfer from Pepperdine to Loyola Marymount University, signing a letter of intent with LMU. Porter averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Waves. LMU released a statement, relaying their awareness of Porter's arrest and monitoring the player's situation.

Considering the amount of personal turmoil he's faced off the court, Michael Porter, Jr. — a prized, lengthy, sharp-shooting forward for the dominant Nuggets — has been playing exceptionally well this postseason.

MPJ averaged 22.8 points per game to put the Los Angeles Lakers out in five games in this first round of the playoffs. Porter acknowledged the off-court unrest during the Lakers series. He credited head coach Michael Malone and the team for rallying around him as he inadvertently made headlines.

"Definitely tried to compartmentalize, some bad and sad stuff happened to a couple of my brothers," MPJ said.

"But I got, you know, 15, 16 more brothers in here, so I knew I had to be here for them and come in here and do my job and try to prepare to do it at a high level."

MPJ is laser-focused on being a back-to-back NBA champ.
