Michael Irvin Out At NFL Network As Part Of Series Of Cuts At League Media Property

The NFL Network will not renew Michael Irvin's contract, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to OutKick on Friday.

Irvin was part of a series of cuts last month that also included Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, Will Selva, and James Palmer, the source explained.

Irvin, who joined the NFL Network in 2009, was an analyst for the Sunday morning pre-game show "GameDay Morning."

The league-owned network continues to undergo budget cuts and changes as the NFL looks to pawn off control of the channel to an established broadcast partner.

Earlier this year, the NFL discussed acquiring a stake in ESPN that would allow Disney then to run NFL Media properties, including the NFL Network.Talks between the NFL and Disney are ongoing.

Other moves at NFL Network include abruptly moving the flagship morning show "Good Morning Football" to the Los Angeles headquarters, leaving the futures of the cast in doubt.

Perhaps the only positive sign coming out of the NFL Network offices is the re-signing of insider Ian Rapoport this month.

As for Michael Irvin, he will be fine.

Irvin joined FS1 last season as a contributor to "Undisputed" with Skip Bayless, a role in which he will continue. Irvin appeared on the show three days a week (Monday, Thursday, and Friday) during the football season. He has joined the program sporadically since.

Fox Sports could also expand Irvin's presence by adding him to the pre-pre show (NFL Kickoffs) or pre-game show (Fox NFL Sunday).

Irvin, despite the perpetual drama , is one of the better athletes-turned-analysts on television.

He's sharp. He's entertaining:

Souces tell OutKick that more changes are coming at NFL Network, which did not provide a comment for this article.
