Mets Catcher Nails Bryce Harper's Helmet During At-Bat

Anything can happen in baseball.

The New York Mets made headlines (again) on Monday after a routine throw hit Phillies slugger Bryce Harper with a headshot that nearly sent him to the concussion protocol (kind of).

Mets catcher Tomas Nido clocked Harper on the side of his helmet in the first inning while tossing the ball back to pitcher Sean Manaea.

A routine motion nearly injured Harper, and Nido couldn't believe the accidental play.

WATCH:

Harper, who naturally has a temper to him, first appeared ticked off but couldn't blame the Mets catcher for making the peculiar throw. He seemed shaken up for a moment but hit a single to finish the at-bat and carried on.

New York lost its game at home, 5-4, to Philly.

The Mets are coming off a thrilling weekend that included ruining a no-hit bid against the Braves in the ninth on Saturday and winning on a walk-off home run in primetime against Atlanta on Mother's Day.
