Max Scherzer Wants Relegation System For Terrible Umpires
Max Scherzer wants accountability for bad umpires in the bigs.
The three-time Cy Young winner, rehabbing his way back to the Texas Rangers, told the Dallas Morning News, that he'd like to see the bottom 10% of umps get "relegated."
Mad Max is speaking for many fans who witnessed a recent streak of ridiculous officiating. Heck, Angel Hernandez has a reputation for missing balls and strikes at a ridiculous rate, almost knowing he's impervious to getting checked by Major League Baseball.

Perhaps Scherzer's onto something clever that'll stave off a full robotic umpire takeover.
"We need to rank the umpires," Scherzer said, reported by the Dallas Morning News. "Let the electronic strike zone rank the umpires. We need to have a conversation about the bottom — let's call it 10% — whatever you want to declare the bottom is, and talk about relegating those umpires to the minor leagues."
Scherzer also spoke on his rehab assignment in Triple-A after tossing over 50 pitches in 2 ⅓ innings following offseason back surgery.
Approaching 40 this summer, Scherzer remains a key part of the Rangers' rotation. Scherz is in the second year of a three-year, $130 million deal.
"Physically, I feel good," Scherzer commented on his rehab assignment. "Especially in that third (inning), getting out there to face the last hitter, I still felt like I had something in the tank to go out there and do that. That's just part of the process of how you build up."
