Former UFC Fighter Mark Coleman Out of Hospital After Life-Threatening Rescue

Former UFC fighter Mark Coleman made headlines last week for his heroism: running into his burning childhood home to save his parents.

Coleman saved his parents, running into the burning home three times, but landed in the hospital due to smoke inhalation and was "fighting for his life," according to an update from his children.

One week of fighting in the hospital later, Coleman no longer requires medical attention — steadily recovering on his own.

The 59-year-old announced the positive update on his social media account Monday, thanking fans for their support during a frightening time.

"God is great. I am healing up very well," Coleman posted on his IG.

The fire occurred early in the morning (around 4 a.m.) last Tuesday, occurring at his parents' home in Toledo, Ohio.

Unfortunately, Coleman's family pet, Hammer, did not survive the house fire, which reportedly originated in the home kitchen.

"My lungs are sore. My eyes are burnt but I’m very much alive and well. I feel so blessed it’s in my higher powers hands. He wants me to move forward today and I am.

"I’m one of the luckiest men in the world," Coleman added.

"I can’t thank you enough. I’m just grateful. I’ll continue to motivate people to move forward and be a better version of themselves. You never know when you’re gonna need it, so let’s go. Let’s start today. Tomorrow’s not promised. Get moving!"

The seminal UFC heavyweight spawned major support from the MMA community. Coleman's family launched a GoFundMe page to help cover his hospital expenses. The donation page set a target of $100,000. Coleman's fans put the donation count at over $120,000 in less than a week.

It didn't take long for Coleman to get on his feet, posting a video on his Instagram of a visit to his nearby gym after his release from the hospital.

Coleman is truly super-human.
