Man Who Rammed Into Terrell Owens With His Car Hit With Two Counts Of Felony Assault
The man who allegedly ran his car into former NFL star Terrell Owens has been charged with two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
Last October, Owens and Wonzur Ratcliffe were playing in a pickup basketball game in Calabasas, CA. Apparently, the two men got into a heated argument during the game. It remains unclear what the argument was about.
Frankly, all of that is standard fare for pickup basketball. My Thursday night pickup group can get heated on occasion.
But this argument got really heated. Ratcliffe apparently escalated the confrontation by getting in his car and ramming it into Owens' knee. Thankfully, Owens didn’t need medical attention after the collision, so the injury wasn’t too serious. Even so, Ratcliffe clearly crossed a line in the altercation.
Two days after the incident happened, Owens vaguely alluded to the argument on Instagram.
"ABOUT LAST NIGHT…BUT I DO HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTECT MYSELF. *hope the car is ok!!!," Owens wrote in the caption.
As a result of his actions, Ratcliffe now has two felony assault charges on his record. TMZ reported that there is no court date set for the offender.
This is not the first time Owens has faced trouble in a situation involving a car. In 2022, the former wide receiver almost hit his neighbor, Caitlin Davis, with his vehicle while driving late at night. After stepping out of his car to ensure she was okay, Davis started berating Owens. She accused him of trying to cause trouble, in large part because of his skin color.
"You didn’t have to get out of your f**king car … You’re a black man approaching a white woman," Davis said.
She was later hit with a misdemeanor after filing a false police report against the NFL legend.
Cars just seem to cause trouble for Owens, no matter where he goes.
