Ludvig Aberg Says Scottie Scheffler Is His Favorite Player, And Why It Has Little To Do With His Golf Game

Despite the fact that Scottie Scheffler was the man responsible for spoiling his dream of winning the 2024 Masters in what was his major championship debut, Ludvig Aberg doesn't have a bad thing to say about the man. In fact, Scheffler is Aberg's favorite player on the PGA Tour.

Speaking ahead of this week's RBC Heritage, Aberg was asked when was the first time he met Scheffler. After explaining that they first crossed paths ahead of the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy, he shared quite the endorsement of not only Scottie Scheffler the golfer, but Scottie Scheffler the person.

"I think I actually had the question the other day. Someone asked me who's my favorite player on Tour, and I said Scottie, not only because of the way he plays golf and hits the golf ball, but the person he is and how he handles a lot of those things." Aberg told the media in Hilton Head.

"I'm very -- I'm admiring him as a person because of those things, and I think that's pretty cool."

Scheffler's track record between the ropes speaks for itself. At 27-years-old he's already won two Masters, has been the No. 1 ranked player in the world for 83 consecutive weeks now, and has lost to just one golfer over the course of his last four starts.

The man is operating at a different level, and is the clear-cut best player on Earth at the moment.

Masters week provided the world to take a closer glimpse into how he handles himself away from the golf course, and it's more than admirable. He takes every opportunity to talk about his wife and how important of a role she plays in his life, but also how the game of golf - his profession - isn't what defines him.

Shortly after finding the winner's circle at Augusta National, Scheffler explained that golf would actually be the fourth thing on his priority list in the near future behind his faith, wife, and the child they'll soon be welcoming to the world.
