LSU Fan Threatens To Kill David Hookstead Over Viral Tweet: LISTEN

UPDATE: You can see my official response to the LSU fan here: https://www.outkick.com/culture/david-hookstead-lsu-death-threat-response

An LSU fan is threatening to kill me after I had the audacity to claim Caitlin Clark might be a better role model than Kim Mulkey's Tigers squad.

I sent a very viral tweet in the aftermath of LSU players brawling and pulling cheap shots against South Carolina, noting the differences.

LSU players fought against South Carolina, Reese pulled someone's hair, Kim Mulkey refused to take responsibility for her roster. The exact same weekend, Caitlin Clark was filmed signing autographs for little kids after winning the Big Ten Tournament title.

Furthermore, Reese was literally removed from team activities earlier in the season, taunted Clark last season and threatened to boycott the White House. Nothing similar has happened with the Iowa superstar. The differences are obvious, and it's not at all controversial to point them out.

LSU fan threatens to kill me.

Now, I'm no stranger to sports fans mixing it up online. It's part of what makes being a fan and working at OutKick so much fun. However, things went to a wild level Wednesday afternoon.

An X user by the name of Jordan with the handle @MetroSpider2900 left me a voice message threatening to kill me. Recognize him? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

"Hey big, homie. I'm just trying to let you know I'll slime your ass out. I'll wipe your f*cking nose. I'll kill you, bitch. Keep Angel Reese's name out of your f*cking mouth, boy. What the f*ck wrong with you, white trash," Jordan/@MetroSpider2900 informed me. A message that started with so much hope and optimism quickly descended into borderline incoherent threats of violence.

You can listen to the troubling message below, but *DO NOT* listen on work speakers. Put on headphones, and then send me your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Naturally, I'm a First Amendment absolutist (even though threats aren't legally protected speech), and I reached out to Jordan/@MetroSpider2900 to see if he had any further details he could provide.

He quickly refused to add further specifics and instead demanded my location and asked if I "think sh*t a game."

This is where women's college basketball has gotten. The sport is apparently so hot and divisive that pointing out Caitlin Clark doesn't have the baggage Kim Mulkey's program does is license to get death threats.

Again, let's run down some issues LSU has had.

Those incidents have all happened within the past year. It's an absolute circus in Baton Rouge. Now, the main criticism of Clark is that she flops. Fair enough. Maybe she does a lot. Maybe she doesn't. Either way, flopping is part of basketball, whether you like it or not.

It's not an off-the-court issue or unacceptable behavior on the court. Yet, my simple comparison drew plenty of backlash and a death threat.

It's almost like nobody actually reads the news.

Here's the last thing I'll say on this, and I mean it. I seriously doubt Jordan/@MetroSpider2900 has ever engaged in a gun battle in his life.

As OutKick readers know, I'm very close friends with some former Tier One operators. They've killed a lot of people on behalf of this country. You know what they don't do? Leave hard to understand voicemails. They're more like your local accountant or science teacher. Strength and experience are quiet.

Ego and foolishness are loud.

Will Jordan/@MetroSpider2900 do the interview? We'll see, but the offer stands. He's welcome to get on the phone with me at any time to explain his position, and I hope he does, because that's what we do here at OutKick. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
