Lou Holtz Is Getting Into The Podcast Game, With Trump-Backed Nonprofit

Podcasting is one of the newer mediums on the block, but you're never too old to get into it. Just ask 87-year-old coaching legend Lou Holtz who announced that he has a podcast on the way.

Holtz unveiled his new show — appropriately titled, The Lou Holtz Show — in a video on social media.

I mean, as podcast announcement videos go, are there any that will make you want to run through a brick wall quite like that one?

No wonder Holtz is one of the most legendary college football coaches of all time.

"The Lou Holtz Show is my chance to come alongside this generation with the same message my parents taught me. It’s a chance to hear from heroes of our culture," a statement on Holtz's website reads. "It’s a chance for the younger generation to hear that hard work, education, and responsibility will change YOUR life."

The show is backed by former president Donald Trump's non-profit America First Policy Institute. That makes a lot of sense considering Holtz is a longtime Republican supporter and was even awarded the Medal of Freedom when Trump was in office. There's a clump of that moment in his announcement video.

However, despite this, Holtz himself said the show won't be political.

"I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat, Independent, white, black, yellow, or any color in between. This show is to inspire people to do the right thing," Holtz's statement reads. "Each episode of my show will feature a unique guest who has had a remarkable influence on American culture."

I think popping Holtz's podcast on while you're at the gym or running errands would be worth the price of admission just for the stories. The man has lived a life.

I'm sure some of those stories will come up on his debut episode which features Auburn men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl as a guest.
