American Soccer Star Explains Why She Loves The National Anthem

American soccer star Lindsey Horan isn't afraid to show her love for our beautiful national anthem.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" has become a lightning rod at several points over the past few years ever since Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem.

Many other athletes followed the former NFL QB's example. While the anthem protests are pretty much over at this point, you never know when they might flare up again.

One thing you can count on is Horan standing.

Lindsey Horan explains her support for the national anthem.

The USWNT member has stood with pride during the national anthem both on the world stage and in the NWSL when her teammates wouldn't. That's not going to change.

Horan told Fox News Digital the following when discussing why she loves singing the national anthem:

"I think obviously it’s an individual choice. I think, for me, without getting emotional here, it’s like one of the coolest moments of a soccer game. You’re stepping out, it’s like the moment before you actually go out on the field. You can kinda sit there, and mentally, fully prepare for what you’re about to do. In that moment, I’m singing the anthem and I’m just [like], ‘I’m playing for my country. I’m representing the USA, which is one of the coolest things in the world. I’m representing my family, the fans here in the stands and at home watching.'"

It's certainly great to see a woman who loves her country and our beautiful national anthem. Her outlook is also 100% correct.

When you're playing on the international stage - whether it be the Olympics or World Cup - you're representing the country. You're representing the red, white and blue.

Unfortunately, there are many people who do not understand that fact, and have selfishly made it about themselves.

Megan Rapinoe infamously loved kneeling during the anthem.

Props to Horan for showing love and pride in her country. Hopefully, she goes out and kicks butt at the Olympics in Paris. Bring home the gold, ladies! Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
