Mega-Viral Video Claims Bronny James Is Impressive...Because He Can Dunk

A video of Bronny James dunking is blowing up, and I'm not sure why anyone should be impressed.

The draft stock of LeBron James' oldest son is being hotly debated with the Lakers star's future up in the air and Bronny going through the combine.

It turns out that Bronny James is only 6'1.5" - not 6'4" as listed on previous rosters. Add in the fact he had a bad freshman year at USC, and it's easy to see why people are doubting his NBA potential.

How is a short guard who averaged 4.8 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and shot a terrible 36.6% from the field and 26.7% from three in 25 games at USC supposed to translate to the NBA?

Don't worry. He can dunk.

Video promoting Bronny James' dunking ability goes viral.

The X account @MaskedInLA shared a video of Bronny doing some very basic dunks during the combine, and captioned it, "Yeah that’s not a regular 6’2 guard."

You can watch it below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Bronny James might turn into a solid pro. He might be a disaster in the NBA. His college stats indicate the latter is much more likely to happen.

What I do know for sure is this video proves absolutely nothing, and the people going wild over it are insane. I used to work for a D1 college basketball team. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. I also know from that experience that nothing about this video is overly impressive.

Every guard on the team other than maybe one guy could do all those dunks in the same fashion. Is Bronny James a good athlete? Yes. He's incredibly athletic, but this video - which has 2.4 million views - proves absolutely nothing.

It definitely doesn't prove he's "not a regular 6'2" guard." Ja Morant and Damian Lillard are both 6'2", and could do this in their sleep. Again, maybe Bronny will be a solid NBA player at some point, but the push to make him seem legit is just wild. He couldn't even average five points a game in the PAC-12 this past season. Give it a rest. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com if you agree.
