Lawsuit Against Lane Kiffin Brought By Ole Miss Player Gets Huge Update

Lane Kiffin is free and clear after being sued by Ole Miss player DeSanto Rollins.

The Ole Miss football coach was sued for $40 million by Rollins on allegations of racial discrimination, discrimination on the basis of disability, sexual discrimination, intentional affliction of emotional distress, negligence and gross negligence, but the case is now over, according to the Clarion Ledger.

Rollins' case was dismissed Wednesday, according to the outlet. The lawsuit all stems from Rollins being removed from the playing lineup after allegedly refusing to speak with coaches amid claims of mental health issues. One of the reasons for the issue is believed to be the fact coaches had Rollins switch from defense to offense.

DeSanto Rollins' lawsuit against Lane Kiffin dismissed.

The situation was blown wide open after Rollins recorded a meeting with Kiffin, where the Ole Miss coach laid into him for ignoring basic directions.

Kiffin acknowledged mental health is real and should be taken seriously, but it's not an excuse to just ignore the chain of command for weeks on end.

Many in the media rushed to crush Lane Kiffin. However, I took a much more nuanced and correct stance on the situation:

Kiffin did nothing wrong and shouldn't apologize.

The Ole Miss leader didn't, and the absurd lawsuit by Rollins has now been dropped.

Rollins is still listed on the Ole Miss roster, but it's unclear whether or not he will stick with the program moving forward. It's hard to imagine a situation where a guy sues his head coach and doesn't transfer. Something tells me Rollins' time with the program is nearing a rapid end.
