Lane Kiffin's 8th Grade Son Lands First Football Scholarship Offer

Lane Kiffin's son Knox is already generating some college interest, despite not even being in high school yet.

The Ole Miss coach's son is in eighth grade, and you'd think that's a bit young to start thinking about where to attend college. However, Mississippi College is taking a shot at getting on Knox's radar as early as possible.

Kiffin's eighth grade son tweeted Monday night that he's received an offer from the DII program. According to 247 Sports, MC head coach David Kershaw delivered the offer.

While his dad is a major college football coach in the SEC and one of the most recognizable men in the sport, this all seems a bit foolish.

The young man is in 8th grade. Shouldn't he be awkwardly attending middle school dances and playing pick-up basketball in his driveway with his buddies?

Offering a kid a few years too young to drive a car a football scholarship is wild. He's in eighth grade, and supposedly good enough to be drawing a scholarship offer? That's a very tough sell.

Unfortunately, we've also seen this movie play out before. There have been examples over the years of players receiving offers at very young ages, and then not doing much as they get older.

Furthermore, this is DII football we're talking about. It's not the SEC or Big Ten. It's DII. Knox Kiffin is the son of the most famous man in Mississippi. I don't want to tell the young man what to do, but there's no way being a DII QB would be more fun than being Lane Kiffin's son attending Ole Miss.

No shot in hell. I'd much rather do the latter. Now, if some high-major D1 offers roll in, then it's a different story. Also, if Knox grows up to be a legit QB prospect, won't his dad just offer him immediately?
