Lane Kiffin Savagely Roasts Paul Finebaum To His Face On Live TV: VIDEO
Lane Kiffin had the internet buzzing after a Thursday exchange with Paul Finebaum.
Kiffin is entering the 2024 season at Ole Miss with huge expectations on his shoulders. The Rebels should be one of the best teams in America, and fans definitely believe a playoff spot is likely.
After rough stints at Tennessee and USC, Kiffin is flourishing in Oxford. He also couldn't help himself from taking a walk down memory lane during an SEC Network appearance with Finebaum.
Lane Kiffin goes viral with awkward exchange with Paul Finebaum.
Finebaum and Kiffin have some interesting history that goes back years. The popular college football pundit infamously compared the then-USC coach to Miley Cyrus during his failed tenure at USC. He was fired shortly afterwards in 2013, and he's still reminding Finebaum all about it.
"We were playing that night and you were on College GameDay and you had to make your big splash. They were watching it because I know the other person in the room that was watching it with them. And you said what a joke I was, I’m the Miley Cyrus of college football coaching and I should be fired. They looked at each other and later that night, I was fired," Kiffin told Finebaum Thursday during SEC Media Days.
However, Kiffin and Cyrus are both crushing it these days, and the Ole Miss coach had to throw in an extra shot at Finebaum.
"Really, I don't know what you're good at. You predicted Coach Saban was done. That didn't happen. You basically said Miley Cyrus stinks, and she's still going," Kiffin said with the energy of someone whose dog just got kicked.

To be clear, I'm fairly confident this is mostly a shtick. The two have always had funny interactions. It's almost like they need to star in a buddy cop film together.
The energy between the two never disappoints.
However, we have to give props for how well Kiffin sold this moment as being legit. Does he probably hold a little ill will towards Finebaum for torching him right before he got fired at USC?
Maybe, but an ESPN pundit isn't the reason the Trojans fired him. Kiffin was fired at USC because the team simply wasn't very good. Yet, the (fake?) feud between the two continues, and it's absolutely hilarious.
Props to Kiffin and Finebaum for continuing to be pure energy together, even if it was awkward as all hell. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
