Frankie Capan III Goes On Unconscious Birdie Streak To Shoot 58 On The Korn Ferry Tour

Frankie Capan III is likely a name you've never come across, but after his 13-under round of 58 on the Korn Ferry Tour, it's a name every golf fan is going to remember.

The Florida Gulf Coast product began his opening round of the Veritex Bank Championship at the Texas Rangers Golf Club with a routine par on the first hole, but then things got interesting, fast.

Capan III went flagstick hunting over the course of his next four holes hitting four-straight approach shots inside 11 feet and knocking down each look at birdie. That four-hole stretch served as a very small appetizer of what was to come.

After pars on holes six, seven, and eight, he made eagle on the very reachable Par 5 ninth hole to turn at 6-under par, which was the start of him turning into a creature not of this planet as he proceeded to make seven straight birdies to start his back nine.

An eight-hole stretch where you're nine-under par will get the job done every time.

Capan III finally came back down to Earth with a par on the Par 4 17th hole, and was left with a short Par 5 to close his round out with a birdie giving him a round of 57.

Unfortunately, he found a fairway bunker off of the tee and then three-putted from 45 feet for, as crazy it sounds, an underwhelming par. It's safe to say that he happily signed his card for a 58, however.

Some golf hardos will try to put an asterisk next to Capan III's 58 with the course playing barely over 7,000 yards and all three of the Par 5s on the property being incredibly reachable, but a 58 is a 58. Whether it's a 5,000 yard golf course or an 8,000 yard golf course, getting around in just 58 shots is outrageously impressive in every single way.

Cristobal Del Solar still has bragging rights over Capan III as he shot 57 in the opening round of the Astrata Golf Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour back in February.
