LGBTQ Crowd Loses Its Collective Mind After 'Hateful' Christian Korbin Albert Makes U.S. Women's Olympic Team
Korbin Albert is a Christian who, unlike many of her U.S. women's soccer teammates, doesn't appear to subscribe to the idea that the entire world revolves around members of the LGBTQ+ community. The 20-year-old has officially been named to the final USWNT roster for the upcoming Paris Olympics, which has triggered quite a reaction from some.
The U.S. women's national team announced the roster of players that will head to Paris next month with a video featuring actress and comedian Fortune Feimster. Outside of Alex Morgan being left off the team for the first major international tournament since 2008, Albert's inclusion sparked the most vocal reaction.
Earlier this year, Albert, who played at Notre Dame before turning professional, re-posted a video on her TikTok account of a sermon talking about how being gay and "feeling transgender" is wrong. Her move on TikTok resurfaced at the end of March, which led Megan Rapinoe, who is gay, to criticize Albert on social media.
"For people who want to hide behind 'my beliefs,' I would just ask one question, are you making any type of space safer, more inclusive, more whole, any semblance of better, bringing the best out of anyone," Rapinoe wrote on an Instagram story. "Because if you aren't, all you believe in is hate. And Kids are literally killing themselves because of this hate. Wake TF up!"

Rapinoe, in cowardly fashion, did not mention Albert in her post, but later confirmed to The Athletic that it was in response to Albert's social media activity.
With Rapinoe leading the mob out to get her, Albert apologized just a few hours after the former USWNT captain called her out.
On top of her re-posted TikTok about being gay or transgender, The Athletic made sure to note that Albert had also created a since-deleted video on Fourth of July weekend in 2022 in which she and her family stated "their pronouns are USA."
The negative reaction to Albert making the Olympic team has nothing to do with her abilities on the field, but everything to do with her Christian faith and past social media activity. She's been booed during matches leading up to the Paris Games as well.
It's almost as if the group of people who scream about inclusivity during every waking moment of the day aren't actually all that inclusive, at least not to a woman who chooses to profess her Christian faith.
Albert has featured in just 11 games for the U.S. women's senior team, yet apparently, that small sample size is enough for some to say she's not fit for the team. She plays professionally for Paris Saint-Germain, one of the biggest soccer clubs on the planet, but we can't talk about that.
Again, these reactions have nothing to do with her ability on the field.
USWNT fans already have two things to yell about before a single game is played in Paris: Morgan not making the roster and a "transphobe" who loves the United States making the final cut. It's a safe bet fans will be much more vocal about Albert than Morgan.
