Kirk Cousins Stays On Brand, Admits To Being LEGO Master

What do you do if you’re an NFL starting quarterback with hundreds of millions of dollars and a torn achilles tendon?

Sulk? Vacation? Drink? Buy a boat? Drink some more?

If you’re Kirk Cousins you open up the wallet for a whole bunch of LEGOs.

In an interview with former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan on their Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Cousins nerd’d out and admitted to being a bit of a LEGO Master - especially while on the shelf with an Achilles injury suffered in Week 8 of last season.

Rather than drown his sorrows or set sail, Cousins built himself, err, rather LEGOs, back up.

The newly-signed Falcons QB described the scene when he and his two boys walked into the Mall of America’s LEGO store while injured and ready to build.

"I looked at the LEGO (employee) at the entrance welcoming me in and I said ‘You’re with me, get a cart, we’re goin,’" Cousins told Bussin’. "‘…Whatever (Cousins’ sons) say they want, throw it in the cart.’ And we’re gonna start building."

Don’t let the Kohl's button downs fool you, Cousins is the fun police’s worst nightmare.

Case in point: you buy it, you build it.

"We built the LEGO Concord, we built the space shuttle, we built the Home Alone house," Cousins continued. "We built the James Bond car."

Damn Kirk, save some girls for the rest of us!

Kirk Cousins Used LEGOs To Help Get Through Achilles Injury

Though he may or may not cut the corners (and everything else under his arms), Captain Kirk does not skimp when it comes to piecing together his LEGO purchases. He finishes what he starts. Unless, of course, a plastic Titanic is staring him down the way Micah Parsons does on a third down blitz. When that’s the case, Cousins opts for an audible, knowing his limitations.

"My ceiling’s probably 7,000 pieces," Cousins told Lewan, after the ex-tackle briefly geeked out about his own LEGO Titanic. "That’s like 10,000 pieces. You’re deep."

Cousins, who signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons in March, has been team LEGO for years, long before his Achilles tear in October. He told Compton and Lewan: "I love to build and create. And I also love following instructions."

Even though he's reportedly making $90 million for the 2024-25 season and handing off to Bijan Robinson, Cousins isn't all that different from our LEGO-building kids. Well, aside from that whole love of following instructions part.

With the LEGOs out of the way -until the one that's hiding on your basement floor ready to unexpectedly introduce itself to your bare foot- Bussin' moved onto Cousins' injury rehab. The 35-year-old Falcon insinuated that his rehab is ahead of schedule, though there's still work to be done. In Cousins vernacular, it seems as if it’s brick-by-brick.
