Kelsey Plum, Darren Waller Are Getting A Divorce
WNBA star Kelsey Plum, 29, and New York Giants tight end Darren Waller, 31, have filed for divorce after 13 months of marriage, a Clark County Court filing confirmed on Tuesday.
The latest development follows a troubled Darren Waller, who's been teasing a potential retirement from football due to undisclosed off-the-field issues.
Kelsey Plum released a statement on Tuesday, sharing the emotional news without directly addressing Waller.
Plum, a two-time WNBA champ with the Las Vegas Aces, married Waller in March 2023.
Earlier this year, Waller released a social media video where he "joked" about a potential split with Plum.
The erratic video prompted concern regarding Waller, who overcame a past dealing with substance abuse.
Plum did not state why the couple is divorcing but shared that she was "devastated" after sticking by Waller's side through hard times.
Plum's statement read, "I'm devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it's time to go.
"God has given me such an incredible life, and I'm truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I'll share my story, today is not that day.
"Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy. Much love, KP. Philippians 1:6."
Waller's behavior this offseason raised some head-scratching reactions inside the Giants organization.
Meanwhile, the Giants await Waller's response concerning his future in East Rutherford. New York traded for Waller in 2023, 11 days after his marriage to Plum. The former Pro Bowler plays on a three-year, $51 million contract signed in 2022 with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Waller suffered a lackluster first year with the G-Men in 2023. He caught 52 passes for 552 yards and a touchdown.
