Keith Mitchell Tests His Limits As Golf's Fashion Icon With A Shirt Featuring An Alarming Number Of Buttons

Keith Mitchell has evolved into a man of great fashion on the PGA Tour over the past few years. You don't earn the nickname ‘Cashmere Keith’ by chance. You're given that nickname for the 'fits you pull off on the golf course, but the shirt Mitchell decided to throw on for the opening round of the Cognizant Classic was pushing the limits, even for him.

Mitchell wears Sid Mashburn polos, and while the majority of the brand's shirts feature your typical three buttons up top, he got his hands on one that has five buttons that are separated so far apart the bottom button is nearly touching his belly button. He started his day at the Cognizant on Thursday with three buttons undone, and we're talking about some serious chest action being put on display as a result.

I decided to put on my investigative journalist hat to try and find out more about the button-heavy shirt, and it turns out that this isn't the first time Mr. Mitchell has worn it.

Mitchell wore the same exact shirt during the third round of last year's Memorial tournament, but nobody noticed the unique button layout because he only had two buttons undone as opposed to three. As you can see, that makes a major difference to how the shirt looks.

Mitchell started his professional career with Nike, wearing the same shirts and hats you see the weekend warriors (and Rory McIlroy) wearing on the course, but has certainly found a brand and style that fits him.

With golf fashion being dominated by Nike, Adidas, and other brands trying to copy the athleisure look, we have to respect Mitchell going the old-school route by wearing cotton shirts with absurd amounts of buttons, pleated pants you'd find on a rack at Macy's in the early 2000s, and a Tour visor.
