Kamala Harris Calls Grambling State After Their First Tournament Win, And They Couldn't Have Cared Less

The Grambling State Tigers won their first March Madness game in program history on Wednesday night, and were rewarded by a call from Vice President Kamala Harris the next day.

Which, now that I think about it, isn’t really that much of a reward.

The day after the Tigers overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat the Montana State Bobcats 88-81 in overtime in a First Four matchup , Harris decided to grace the Tigers with her presence via a phone call.

Mind you, this is the same Kamala Harris who is basically cringe personified. Harris has a knack for saying a lot of words without really saying anything of substance, and that happened during the call.

Harris contacted Tigers head coach Donte' Jackson, who put her on speakerphone. The look of moderate discomfort on his face was unmistakable, as well as the complete lack of interest from the rest of the team.

"You all killed it last night! Is the team there? Can they hear me?," Harris said.

"Yes, they can hear you," Jackson said. It looked like taking this call was the last thing he wanted to do.

"I watched the entire game in overtime. You all were just pure excellence on that court," VP Harris said. "My husband and I were on the edge of our seats…you got that lefty."

Really, Madam Vice President? That "lefty" has a name, and it’s Jourdan Smith. That at least got a laugh out of Jackson, which was the only positive reaction anyone - coach or player - had in the video.

She ended her incredibly awkward call by saying the team ‘made her proud’ as a fellow graduate of an HBCU.

"As a proud HBCU graduate, I just had to let you all know that you’ve got fans all over the place, even The White House."

Social Media Blasted Harris For Her Cringe Call

I think I speak for a majority of people by saying that this would be the most uninspiring thing to happen during my day. That’s a real shame, because a call from the vice president should get you somewhat excited.

To add to the awkwardness of the situation, Harris went to Howard, not Grambling State. I guess she had to find a way to stay relevant, because her alma mater lost its First Four game against Wagner.

A call like this makes her the perfect target to get roasted, and fans certainly did that.

"I don’t know whose idea this was. But not a good one lmao," one user wrote.

"That’s the last person they wanna hear from," said another.

One person chimed in and said "I would have hung up on her."

Frankly, so would I.

But one fan in particular provided the best response: "It would have been post worthy if the coach would have said Trump 2024 at the end."

Once again, the comment section reminds us it's undefeated.

The Tigers lost to Purdue 78-50 last night, ending their stay in March Madness. But hey, at least they won’t have to take any more calls from Harris!
