Johnny Manziel Says Drugs Caused Disturbing Weight Loss

Johnny Manziel says drugs are responsible for his infamous weight loss.

The former Cleveland Browns QB is back in the news after doing a truly stunning interview with Shannon Sharpe that covered his rise and downfall.

In classic Manziel fashion, he produced plenty of interesting soundbites. That includes one about cocaine.

Johnny Manziels blames "blow" for weight loss.

Manziel famously looked like a shell of himself after leaving the Cleveland Browns following two incredibly disappointing seasons.

He didn't look like an NFL QB at all. In fact, he looked like someone incredibly unhealthy…..and it turns out he was.

Manziel revealed he lost 40 pounds after leaving the Browns in 2016 because he was on a "strict diet of blow." For anyone who doesn't know, blow is slang for cocaine.

Credit to Manziel for at least being honest. At least he's not attempting to offer some spin or anything like that. Sharpe asked how he went from 210 to 170 pounds in the months that followed the Texas A&M Heisman winner's NFL exit, and he had one very simple answer:

Cocaine.

If that's not keeping it real, then I don't know what is.

It's truly amazing how Manziel's epic downfall happened eight years ago, and it still grabs headlines today. People are fascinated by his rise and fall. As I said in the Manziel/LeBron piece, I recommend watching the Netflix documentary. It definitely doesn't make the former NFL QB look good, but it's worth watching. Let me know what you think of Manziel at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
