Johnny Manziel Names The College Coach He'd Want His Kid To Play For: 'Without A Doubt'
The Johnny Manziel media tour rolled on this week, although I'm still not sure why we're getting so much Johnny Football news in 2024.
I'm not hating on it, because I love me some Johnny Manziel – but it just seems odd that he's resurfaced with such vigor this year. Didn't see it coming.
Anyway, the former Texas A&M Aggie joined Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay podcast and "unequivocally" named the college coach he'd want his theoretical son to play for in 2024.
Any guesses? Nope? Crickets?
It's rhymes with shine!
"I would, without a doubt, unequivocally, send him to Coach Prime," Manziel said of Colorado coach Deion Sanders.
"Me and him, being Texas guys, we've had a great relationship for years. Looking back on our relationship now, he knew there was something special in me to the point where he'd interject in my life at times, or send me a message.
"If I was a college kid now, Texas A&M is the best school in the country, that's a given … but No. 2, I'd play for a guy who's a leader of men and for a guy who carries himself the way that Prime does."
Johnny Manziel and Deion Sanders would've been electric
Honestly, it checks out. I can't think of a more electric duo than Deion Sanders and Johnny Manziel. Could you imagine?
It would be insane. For starters, the TV ratings would be astronomical. You thought Colorado football was big last season. Just imagine if Johnny Manziel was under center.
Knock the guy all you want for his NFL play, but when he was in college, Johnny Football was on top of the world for a few years. He reached Tim Tebow levels of Must-See TV.
As for what Johnny's doing nowadays – like I said, a lot of media stuff.
Just recently, he revealed his worst kept secret in sports – that he played better the harder he partied. That little clip shockingly went viral.
As if that wasn't good enough, he also told Sharpe that he lost 40 pounds after leaving the Browns in 2016 because he was on a "strict diet of blow."
Icon.
Not sure how all that would've worked with Deion Sanders at the helm, but goodness, I wish we could've found out.
