Johnny Manziel Flames Former Teammate In Brutal Fashion

Johnny Manziel didn't have a great time with Brian Hoyer in Cleveland.

Hoyer was with the Browns during Manziel's rookie season in the NFL, and it's not a secret the Texas A&M Heisman winner was unprepared to play in the league when he first got there.

Johnny Football needed a transition period to pick up on the NFL game, but Hoyer was a veteran with plenty of time under his belt. He allegedly used that experience to try to crush and belittle Manziel.

Now, the former first round pick is airing out his dirty laundry.

Manziel told Shannon Sharpe the following about his relationship with Hoyer and how the QB room in Cleveland was:

"My quarterback room was not a home for me because of Brian Hoyer. Brian Hoyer had been waiting on opportunity to be able to go really provide for his family, get an opportunity and he saw how much of an upper hand he had on me and he didn't hold back when it came to that. So there were instances in the quarterback room early on when I would ask the same question a couple times and he'd be at the head of the table and go, '[Disgusted noise] Again? We're doing this again?' Keep him out of it, right. Let's just cut that off and I don't have a bad word to say about Brian Hoyer. That is just fact of what happened in that room."

Johnny Manziel drags Brian Hoyer.

I love how Manziel will say he doesn't have an issue with someone while also just verbally eviscerating them. It's almost like he has a bit of Donald Trump in. He did the exact same thing to Kevin Sumlin in the interview, and Brian Hoyer received the same treatment.

Clearly, Manziel has some memories of his time with Hoyer that he still thinks about roughly a decade later. They only spent a single season together with the Browns, and it apparently didn't go well.

It's kind of hard to blame Hoyer. He was finally able to get his shot, and instead of just focusing on starting, Hoyer had to deal with the Johnny Manziel circus. I'm sure that could be very frustrating, but he might have taken a bit too far if Manziel's story is accurate.

To Manziel's credit, he had nothing but praise for Josh McCown's leadership and mentorship in his second year in the NFL. It sounds like it was night and day.

It's amazing how stories about Johnny Football still come out so many years after he left the NFL. People are simply fascinated by him. He had one of the greatest rises and falls in sports history. Let me know your thoughts on Manziel at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
