Jim Harbaugh Returns To Colin Cowherd's Show After All-Time Awkward Interview And Makes Wild Prediction
For the first time in what feels like an eternity, Jim Harbaugh – Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh to be exact – spoke to Colin Cowherd on today's The Herd.
Now, for those of you who don't live and breathe this stuff like I do, a Jim Harbaugh-Colin Cowherd interview isn't all that earth-shattering. Seems pretty plausible, right?
Two polarizing figures in their respective fields, and one just made a pretty big move from the NCAA back to the NFL. Of course, Colin's going to have him on, right?
Where Colin was right!
Well, yes – except one of the last times Jim Harbaugh joined Colin Cowherd's then-ESPN show was waaaaaaaay back in 2015 (has it been that long!?) and it was arguably the most awkward few minutes in the history of interviews.
Enjoy this little blast from the past!
Jim Harbaugh offers up wild JJ McCarthy prediction
What a rollercoaster seven minutes. Now, I know you may not have watched the whole thing and just skipped to the end to see Colin finally rip the band-aid off, and that's understandable. I get it.
Some of the highlights:
Colin: You're not giving me a ton to work with, Coach. I just want to find out about Jim Harbaugh the human being. I'm a player right now, and I want to play for a bunch of schools.
I'm listening to Jim Harbaugh. I want to play for Jim. I want Jim Harbaugh, the guy. I bring all these coaches on, and I want the guy. If I was a wide receiver. Why should I play at Michigan?
*Weird radio silence*
Colin: This seems terribly difficult, Jim. This is just not working. I love you to death. I really do. But it seems like we're going nowhere with this. And I love you. I'm a huge Harbaugh fan.
Harbaugh (finally!): What can I do to make your interview better?
Colin: I'm just asking open-ended questions, and you have not much to say. I want you to sell your program. That's why I bring Urban on and I bring Sark. I love you guys. I want you to sell your program.
*More painful silence*
Colin: Listen, I love ya. It's not working. I appreciate you stopping by, Jim Harbaugh.
Anybody who grew up listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN remembers where they were when the famous Harbaugh interview took place. I was working on Nantucket, fresh out of college. True story.
Still one of my favorite radio moments of all time.
Anyway, all that to say Jim Harbaugh returned to Colin's show today for I believe the second time since that pleasant exchange, and not only poked fun at how truly awful it was, but then proceeded to pump out maybe the hottest JJ McCarthy take of all time:
Wow! Jim Harbaugh coming in HOT on The Herd! JJ McCarthy – that JJ McCarthy – being the No. 1 QB taken in this year's NFL Draft?
That would be some serious Draft Day (shoutout to Kevin Costner) stuff. Would be the twist of all twists. The talking heads would be in shambles.
Caleb Williams? Nah. Drake Maye? Loser! Reigning Heisman champ Jayden Daniels? Nope!
Welcome to (maybe?) Chicago, JJ McCarthy!
What a prediction.
PS: what the hell "notes" does Jim Harbaugh leave for Colin Cowherd at Fox? I have to know.
