Jim Harbaugh Takes Not-So-Subtle Shot At Ryan Day

Jim Harbaugh's beef with Ryan Day isn't over just because he left for the NFL.

Harbaugh and Day have long had an icy relationship stemming from the former's time at Michigan. A lot of it can be drawn back to Harbaugh's comment after the Wolverines hammered OSU in 2021 when he told the media, "Sometimes people standing on third base and act like they’ve hit a triple, but they didn't."

The comment, without mentioning the Buckeyes coach, clearly implied that Day had inherited an incredible program from Urban Meyer. Urban built it - not Day. That's what Harbaugh thought back then, and apparently still does today.

The Chargers head coach made sure the feud won't die out after the NFL franchise released a hype video Tuesday. It featured an interesting message.

"None here were born on third base but rather had to work their way to first, then second, then third. Congratulations on taking your life circumstances and turning them into success,," a sign in the video reads.

The same message is repeated by Harbaugh on a voiceover. Check out the video below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Rivalries don't die just because you leave for the NFL. That video makes this much clear. There is zero shot this is a coincidence or accident. None.

Harbaugh spent his earlier years at Michigan getting his teeth kicked in by the Buckeyes. He lost his first five games against OSU, and fans were ready to break out the pitchforks. Then, he flipped the switch and won three straight in convincing fashion before leaving for the NFL.

He also managed to win a national title before ending his college coaching career. That's the one thing that continues to dog Ryan Day, and I'm sure that warms Harbaugh's heart.

How much longer will Harbaugh carry on this beef? Time will tell, but he clearly has no interest in putting it to rest after leaving Michigan. I love the energy and pettiness. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
