Jaylen Brown Takes Shot At Stephen A. Smith With Parade Outfit
Jaylen Brown is not afraid to be a little petty.
As the Boston Celtics prepared for their championship parade on Friday, Brown rolled up holding his NBA Finals MVP trophy and wearing a shirt that read "State Your Source" in bold, white letters. The T-shirt was a not-so-subtle jab at ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, who reported last month that Brown had a bad attitude that harmed his marketability.
"I wanted to read y'all what an NBA source just sent me," Smith said on the May 26 episode of First Take. "He said, 'Jaylen Brown, it's not so much that he's underrated, it's that he's just not liked because of his I-am-better-than-you attitude. He knows it. It's the same reason he is not as marketable as he should be.' That's what an NBA source just sent me."

Shortly afterward, the three-time All-Star took to social media and checked Smith — challenging the talking head to name his anonymous "source."
"State your Source," Brown posted on X.
Brown clearly didn't appreciate those comments last month, but now, he's getting the last laugh. The Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Brown averaged 20.8 points in the Finals with 5.4 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 44% overall. The Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games to claim the franchise's 18th NBA Championship.
"It was a full team effort," Brown said after receiving the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP trophy. "I share this with my brothers and my partner in crime, Jayson Tatum. He was with me the whole way. I’ve been grateful for every moment, every opportunity. I never hung my head."
So, despite whatever Stephen A. Smith's anonymous source has to say, it's probably a safe bet that Brown's "marketability" is at an all-time high.
