Dan Campbell Makes Stance On Jared Goff Crystal Clear
Dan Campbell is all in on Jared Goff as the QB of the Detroit Lions.
Goff had a very solid season as he helped lead the Lions to the NFC title game against the 49ers. The team suffered a heartbreaking and devastating loss after blowing a 17-point lead to Kyle Shanahan and company.
It was the highest of highs and lowest of lows for the Lions to close out the season.
It seems to be an annual tradition at this point for people to question whether or not Goff will remain QB1 for the Lions. He was dogged by the same question with the Rams, and he hasn't been able to shake the perception he's not a winning a QB despite solid play in Detroit.
It seems like Dan Campbell isn't overly interested in even leaving the door open a crack that a change might be made.
Dan Campbell throws his support behind Jared Goff.
"I get it because it hasn't happened yet…To me, Jared Goff is a winning QB. You can win in this league with that guy and you can’t say that for a lot of guys. Take the NFC championship. He gave us a chance to win that…I’m glad he’s ours and you can argue that he’s grown more than a lot of players we’ve had," Campbell bluntly responded when asked about the perception Jared Goff can't be a Super Bowl-winning QB.

Good for Dan Campbell for continuing to have Jared Goff's back. This conversation around QB1 in Detroit really needs to end because it's not based in fact or logic.
Does Goff have some rough moments? Yes, and so does every other QB out there. Is he truly elite? No, but can you win at the highest level possible with him? Without a doubt. The team was two bad quarters away from playing in the Super Bowl, which would have been Goff's second appearance.
The numbers simply don't lie. Goff threw for 4,575 yards (second in the NFL), 30 passing touchdowns (4th in the NFL), had a QBR of 60.3 (11th in the NFL) and threw 12 interceptions on the season.
What are people even talking about when it comes to making a QB change? Who else is out there? Is Lamar Jackson going to hit the trade block? What about Patrick Mahomes? It's just complete nonsense, and I'm sure Dan Campbell is getting tired of having to answer the same type of question year after year.
There might come a time when a change will be made in Detroit at the QB position, but that day isn't today or even this season. Goff is the man, and he's earned that right. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
