Jacksonville Jaguars Wish DT A Happy Birthday On X, Then Cut Him Hours Later

A sports team wished their Florida man a happy birthday, and then cut him just hours later.

Foley Fatukasi has spent the past two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he turned 29 years young today. To honor a guy who’s been with the team for a noticeable amount of time, their social media team created a graphic of him to wish their player a happy birthday.

The Jaguars published this at 11:19 this morning, which would have made Fatukasi quite happy. After all, it’s a Monday. Who wouldn’t be happy to see that the organization they work for help them get the worst day of the week off to a good start?

Hold on though, there’s more to this situation. But none of the new details are positive.

Just over two hours later (1:43 in the afternoon, to be precise), Fatukasi’s name once again made waves on social media. But unfortunately for the nose tackle, this tweet put the "Monday" in Monday.

This tweet (fortunately not from the Jaguars page this time) informed the world that Jacksonville cut Fatukasi from the roster.

Now, honestly, I can’t blame them for cutting him. He wasn’t super productive in his time in Duval County, as he recorded 1.5 sacks and 48 tackles in 30 games. Plus, it saves a decent amount of room for the salary cap.

Still, couldn’t the team have informed the social media team that they were going to make the move? I know the juxtaposition of these posts probably wasn’t intentional, but it’s nonetheless a terrible look.

Fatukasi clearly got the worst end of the situation, as he found out he lost his job on his birthday. But Jacksonville and its social media team also took a massive L in the process.
