Is Jason Kelce Going To Unretire?
Is Jason Kelce going to pull a Tom Brady and unretire?
That's what many Philadelphia Eagles fans are hoping for, as the recently retired Pro Bowl center has expressed some regret - especially now that the Eagles made a major move by signing former Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
If that wasn't enough, Kelce was already back at the Eagles practice facility doing some weight training! Sheesh, at least give it a month my man!
"I could not be more bullish. This is what I’m regretting. I knew when I retired that I was going to miss just an outstanding season for the Philadelphia Eagles. And it sucks, it really does. I want to be a part of it so bad. I wish I could," Kelce said on his New Heights podcast with his brother Travis.
"I'm a little bit upset that Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman waited until I retired to make a move like this!" he continued.
The Eagles added a star by signing Barkley away from the NFC rival Giants and signing him to a three-year, $37.75 million deal.
'
SAQUON IS A DIFFERENCE MAKER'
Despite Barkley having previous ankle and knee injuries, including nearly missing the entire 2020 season due to a torn ACL and MCL, Jason Kelce says the Eagles know what they're doing and that Bark's potential is still huge.
"It’ll work out great. Listen, when you add a weapon like this it’s only going to expand the way you can attack a defense… We have a great offensive line. We can put running backs in good situations and put them in these one-on-one spots.
"He’s gonna make that last guy either miss or make a tackle that’s gonna extend it another few yards and that’s what you want out of these running backs. The guys that can extend a play and make it explosive or do something special when they get the opportunity. This is one of those difference makers at the running back position that is increasingly hard to find in the NFL."
In addition to Saquon, the Eagles also signed former Jets edge rusher Bryce Huff who will be a force on an already good Philly defense.
Jason Kelce played 13 years in the NFL where he earned 7 Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl Championship. Don't look now, but if the Eagles make another big time signing - you could have your old center taking reps again this season!
