Iowa Superstar Caitlin Clark Hits The Mark, Passes Kelsey Plum's All-Time NCAA Scoring Record

Iowa women's basketball superstar Caitlin Clark cemented herself in college basketball history.

Clark accomplished the feat in signature, jaw-dropping fashion: scoring the first eight points for the Hawkeyes against Michigan on Thursday and crossing the NCAA's historic all-time scoring mark with a shot drained from way deep.

Clark passed former Washington point guard Kelsey Plum for the NCAA Women’s Division I scoring record (3,527 points). The Hawkeyes senior reached Plum's mark in 13 fewer games played (126 against Plum's 139).

She finished the Iowa win with 49 points (16-of-31), shooting 9-of-18 from beyond the arc, also adding 13 assists. Michigan crashed on Caitlin's memorable night, losing 106-89.

Clark landed seven points away from tying the historic mark leading up to the Iowa-Michigan matchup; she scored 31 points against Nebraska on Sunday, landing in comfortable proximity to usurp Plum. Her legacy at Iowa will be one to revere, including muscling the Hawkeyes to the women's basketball national championship last season but falling short against Kim Mulkey's LSU team.

Thursday's game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena never halted to celebrate her achievement — sticking to Clark's wish.

This season, Clark is averaging an incredible 32.1 points per game.

"Obviously, I understand the magnitude of this," Clark said ahead of Thursday's game. "But I think it’s just kind of come along with how my four years have gone. And it’s crazy looking back at how fast everything’s gone. But I’m just really thankful and grateful.

"I dreamed of doing really big things, playing in front of big crowds, going into the Final Four, maybe not quite on this level."

History … we're all witnessing it.
