The Indianapolis 500 Has A New TV Home With News Of IndyCar Deal With Fox Sports

We just got through the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500, but we've already got to talk about a big change for the 109th Running, and that's where you'll be able to watch it.

Gone are the days of coverage of the Indy 500 and the entire NTT IndyCar Series season being broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock, thanks to the announcement of a brand-spankin' new deal with Fox Sports.

(Disclosure: OutKick and Fox Sports are owned by the same parent company.)

IndyCar announced that beginning in 2025, every race of the season will air on Fox and be streamed on the Fox Sports app. That's big for the series, which currently has some races that air on the USA Network and others that are exclusive to Peacock.

Qualifying sessions for the Indy 500 will also air on Fox while practice sessions will air on FS1 and FS2, as will Indy NXT races, which are currently only available on Peacock.

The deal means that the two biggest races in the US — the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500 — will now have the same TV home.

Say it with me: USA! USA! USA!

This is a big win for all parties. On the IndyCar side, you have the obvious upside in more exposure with every single race on network television. That's huge because more sets of eyeballs means more sponsorship money coming in and that's what keeps teams in business.

On the Fox side, the deal fills a hole in the broadcast lineup on the Sunday before Memorial Day. That's one of the biggest days in motorsport with the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and the Coca-Cola 600 all happening back-to-back.

Next season, NASCAR starts their own new TV deal which will see the Coca-Cola 600 jump to Amazon Prime.

So, getting the Indy 500? That's a pretty damn good replacement, especially after the solid ratings the race dropped this year, even with a race start that was delayed for four hours thanks to rain.

The 2025 NTT IndyCar Season will get underway on March 2, 2025, with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
