City Connect Jersey Power Rankings Need An Update After The Cardinals Dropped These Beauties

The St. Louis Cardinals have completely rocked my opinion on which City Connect uniforms are the best in the majors.

Back in April, I was thoroughly convinced that the Washington Nationals had the best City Connect jerseys in the league. I loved them so much that my family even bought me a Stephen Strasburg shirt with this design as a birthday present.

I was so positively sure that no one would be able to come close to replicating the excellence of those uniforms. But just over a month later, the Cardinals completely changed my opinion.

St. Louis revealed their design in a hype video earlier today with a little helpit from rapper Nelly. Without question, they hit a home run with this design.

Surprisingly, the eye-catching design is the first red uniform the Cardinals have worn in team history.

I’ve said in the past that the point of these uniforms is to be bold, and to find some way to connect with the city’s culture. While the Cardinals didn’t really deviate from their traditional color scheme, it’s still an amazing choice.

The color scheme is aesthetically appealing. The patch on the shoulders pays homage to the French history of the city while incorporating its most iconic design. And the catchy nickname for the city smack-dab on the front? Phenomenal. St. Louis took the spirit of its already iconic uniforms and made them better.

In every sense, these jerseys make this a top-notch set of threads not just within the initiative, but within the entire league.

You would think that means that I’d quickly put them at No. 1 in the league. However, the Nationals’ uniforms are near and dear to my heart, so I can’t let St. Louis have the outright title. They’ll have to share it with Washington:

T-1. - St. Louis Cardinals

T-1. - Washington Nationals

3. Philadelphia Phillies

4. Seattle Mariners

5. Boston Red Sox
