Hulu Creating Series Around Eli Manning's 'Chad Powers' Character
In 2022, Eli Manning created a character called "Chad Powers." He then went to Penn State University, undercover with a mustache and prosthetic nose, to "compete" for a walk-on spot on the school's football team.
The stunt predictably went viral, with Manning showing off some impressive acting chops.
Penn State cashed-in on the stunt and even released Chad Powers merchandise.
Manning showed up for a Penn State football game during the 2022 season and sent the crowd into a frenzy.
We hadn't heard much from Chad Powers since then, but we got a massive update on Wednesday.
According to several reports, Hulu has ordered a series – entitled "Chad Powers" – that will star Glen Powell. Sadly, Eli Manning is not starring in the show, but he is listed as an executive producer.
The Hollywood Reporter says that "the show comes from 20th Television and Peyton Manning’s (Eli’s big brother) Omaha Productions, along with ESPN and Waldron’s Anomaly Pictures.
"Waldron and Powell co-wrote the pilot episode and will executive produce with Peyton and Eli Manning; Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown of Omaha Productions; Anomaly’s Adam Fasullo; and ESPN."
The description of the show reads as follows: "When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers."
It remains to be seen if either Peyton or Eli will make a cameo appearance in the show, but that seems like a safe bet.
Personally, this sounds awesome and I can't wait to watch.
There is no timetable yet for taping and release, so for now, fans will just have to wait for updates.
I haven't dived into the TV review game for OutKick yet, but I just might have to give it a shot once "Chad Powers" hits Hulu…
