Republicans Push For Caitlin Clark To Be On Olympic Team

Republican politicians would like to see Caitlin Clark on the women's Olympic basketball team.

Clark didn't make the roster for the games in Paris, and the decision is baffling to anyone who has been paying attention.

Bringing Clark to Paris - even if she played limited minutes - would have guaranteed her insanely loyal and energetic fan base would have paid attention.

Now, fans are livid and many are vowing to not watch the games following the snub.

Republicans want to see Caitlin Clark on the Olympic team.

While the ship has sailed for Clark to make the roster for the 2024 Olympics, that doesn't mean people have to be silent about the idiotic decision. That includes Republican politicians.

The official House Judiciary GOP X account tweeted Monday afternoon that the Indiana Fever rookie and face of the WNBA "should be on the Olympic team."

It's worth noting the House Judiciary Committee is chaired by massive sports fan and former Ohio State wrestler Jim Jordan.

The fact that the House Judiciary GOP is weighing in on Caitlin Clark not making the Olympic team tells you just how crazy the situation has been since news broke last weekend.

For the vast majority of the WNBA's existence, nobody really cared about the league. It didn't generate headlines, games weren't big deals and the TV ratings were terrible.

Now, Caitlin Clark has dominated the news cycle for weeks, she's re-writing viewership records and politicians are weighing in on the fact she didn't make the Olympic squad.

Is there anyone involved with the WNBA who wants to try to seriously argue she's not the face of the league? There has never been a female basketball player in history who generates this kind of attention.

Unfortunately, neither Republican politicians nor anyone else is going to get Clark on the roster at this point. It's a blown opportunity to grow the game, and the people involved will almost certainly come to regret it. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
