'Had Her S--T Blocked:' Gus Johnson Hilariously Swears On Broadcast Of Iowa Basketball Game
Gus Johnson is so talented at his job, he can take a relatively inconsequential play in a game and make it the funniest thing you’ve ever heard.
Johnson was on the call for last night’s women’s college basketball game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Maryland Terrapins. Iowa won at Maryland for the first time in 32 years, and Caitlin Clark dropped a casual 38 just to stay in shape.
But none of these matter in the slightest. During the game, Johnson provided us with a one-liner for the ages that’s far more memorable than anything that happened on the court.
Halfway through the first quarter, Maryland’s Brinae Alexander got the ball in the post. Clark, who was guarding her, blocked the shot, grabbed the rebound, and pushed the ball in transition.
The play itself wasn’t all that exciting or noteworthy. But Johnson’s call certainly was, to put it lightly.
As everyone turned and ran up the court, Johnson delivered the all-time one-liner.
"No call on the play, as Brinae Alexander had her s–t blocked,’ Johnson said.
Wait, hold up. Did my ears just hear what my brain is telling my ears they heard?
Yes, they did. See for yourself.
Let’s be real. If any of us at home had to tell a friend about that play, that’s the exact wording we’d use too. Johnson’s call was so funny for that very reason.
Of course, he recognized his unintentional mistake quickly and apologized on air. But not soon enough for social media to have a field day with this historically hilarious call.
Frankly, Johnson should just call every women’s college basketball game from here on out. He brings the excitement of these games to a completely different level.
