'Grimace Magic' Still Going Strong As Mets Extend Win Streak To 7 (WTH!)

(Warning: Excessive Use of "Grimace")

Thank Grimace that the New York Mets are still winnin'.

McDonald's purple blob character is fueling a stranger-than-fiction turnaround for the New York Mets, and Grimace Magic is realer than ever after a close comeback win on Tuesday.

After going 9-19 in May, the Mets are now half a game behind the NL Wild Card race. And more than ever, baseball fans bow at the altar of Grimace.

The Mets' Grimace Streak extended to 7 wins for the Mets following a turbulent win over the Texas Rangers.

Down two runs in the top of the eighth inning, as hope was nearly lost, Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez tied the game at 6-6 with a two-run RBI double.

The Mets thanked Grimace and are now focused on a series sweep with a win on Wednesday.

More importantly, win No. 8 under the Grimace Effect.

By now, we should all be rooting for this odd Mets resurgence purely for its magic, which makes no sense (it's a McDonald's character) but has suddenly made this miserable team better.

On Tuesday, the Mets benefited from solid pitching from Luis Severino and James Diekman, the latter of whom had been streaky before Grimace arrived at Citi Field.

The bats have been hot because of the Grimace Effect, and it's what bailed out the Mets in a thriller to win no. 7.

Like the Sacramento Kings' purple beam, this deity-like figure for the Mets (Grimace) may end up being the reason the Mets are buyers at the trade deadline instead of sellers like last season.

And frankly, if your baseball team's marketing isn't based on a miraculous streak created by a blob-like, purple McDonald's character, then you're just not ‘cool.'
