Gonzaga Fans Throw Trash On Court During Loss: VIDEO

Gonzaga fans were livid during a weekend loss to Saint Mary's.

The Bulldogs were upset 64-62 at home Saturday in Spokane, and it was definitely a tough loss for the team to swallow with the team trying to fight for tournament position.

Well, frustrations definitely boiled over with the fans in attendance when it came to officiating. In a scene that you'd expect to see out of a European basketball game, Gonzaga fans started raining trash down on the court.

They weren't happy with the officiating, and they let the refs know it. You can watch the situation unfold below and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Gonzaga fans throw trash on the court during loss to Saint Mary's.

College sports fans are simply cut from a different kind of cloth. The passion and energy can't be matched by anything, and that definitely applies to Gonzaga fans.

The Bulldogs are really the only thing the school has when it comes to attention. Fans in Washington absolutely love Mark Few's team, and with the season not going exactly as hoped with a 16-5 record entering the Saturday game, fans finally hit a breaking point.

Gonzaga is currently firmly on the bubble and the loss to Saint Mary's could have HUGE implications down the stretch.

Did fans react rationally and calmly like I did after the refs hosed Wisconsin against Purdue? No. Not at all. They decided to throw trash on the court.

I'm certainly not endorsing it, but let's not pretend like this isn't the kind of energy fans around the country love to see.

No need to try to cancel anyone. It's moments like this that remind us all just how important college teams are. Now, Gonzaga needs to rack up some wins because the margin of error is completely gone. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
