Glen 'Big Baby' Davis Finds Upside Of 40 Months In Prison
Ex-NBA player Glen "Big Baby" Davis is counting down the days until he reports to prison to serve a 40-month sentence for his role in a scheme that duped the NBA's Players' Health and Benefit Welfare Plan out of money.
He's supposed to report to prison next month, but the process could be delayed over an appeal. So, for now, Davis is free to do what he pleases.
This week, Davis — who spent 8 seasons in the NBA with the Celtics, Magic, and Clippers from 2007 to 2015 before spending some time in Big3 —was standing around at LAX and that's where TMZ caught up with him.
"I feel like I'm going to have good quality time in there," the 38-year-old said. "Learn things, meet new people. It's going to be all right."
Wait… what?
If I had the prospect of going to jail hanging over my head I would be bumming hard. So hard.
I could be doing the most fun things ever like driving go-karts or taking some cuts in the batting cages and people would see me frowning then they'd be all like, "Hey, are you upset about having to go to prison next month?" and I'd be like, "Yeah."
Not Davis, though. He is clearly a glass-half-full kind of guy. While the pessimists among us would hear they were going to prison and think about being locked behind bars, Davis was like, "Cool, I might learn a skill."
This dude is a next-level optimist.
But it's not just making friends and learning skills that Davis is looking forward to, he's also hoping to hear his name a lot during mail call.
"Shout out to the ladies out there," he said. "Write me. I'll be in there getting fine as hell. When I get out, call me ‘Big Baby Jailbait!’"
I'm so jealous of Davis… for his attitude; not the whole going-to-prison thing.
He's headed to the clink and it's all sunshine and roses. If I have to go to the dentist or DMV I'm in a piss-poor mood for an entire week ahead of time.
Jeez, well, whatever happens, hopefully, Davis enjoys himself in there, it seems like he's going to.
