Girlfriend Of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Nephew Dead At 33

Tough to start a Saturday with news like this, but the racing world lost a good one yesterday.

Lizzy Musi, a drag racing star and girlfriend of Jeffrey Earnhardt – the grandson of Dale Earnhardt and nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr. – passed away at 33 after an 18-month battle with breast cancer.

Musi's father, Pat, announced his daughter’s death in a Facebook post earlier this week.

"Surrounded by her Family, in the comfort of her own home, Lizzy was called to heaven at 11:25pm tonight," the post began. "Thank you for all the prayers and support throughout her battle. At this time, the family would like to have time to process, grief [sic] and make arrangements in peace. We will give an update as soon as we have information to share."

Lizzy Musi was an Outlaw in every sense

Goodness. Brutal news out of the racing world. Too damn young.

Musi, for those who didn't follow her, announced her battle with breast cancer in April 2023 via Instagram. Last June, she posted again after having to shave her head.

Musi was most well-known in the world of Steet Outlaws. The racing star reportedly first started dating Earnhardt late last year.

Jeffrey, the son of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s brother, Kerry, has run in 76 career NASCAR Cup Series races, and 170 more Xfinity races. He has never won.

This below post went viral in the racing community earlier this year:

This guy right here has supported me like no other from sleepless ER nights and dealing with my health to cheering me on at my races. This past weekend I got to watch him do his thing after a long off season and he just straight killed it.

Again, brutal news here. Admittedly, I didn't know much about Lizzy Musi before she passed beyond the fact that she was diagnosed with cancer last year, but – judging by the social media outpouring – it's evident the racing world lost a good one early Friday morning. It sucks. No other way to put it.

Last year, Musi became the first female driver to win an event on Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings, driving a nitrous-boosted 2012 Camaro dubbed The Aftershock.

About a decade ago, she became the first woman to win a Pro Nitrous national event at the Professional Drag Racers Association U.S. Drags.

Zach grew up in Florida, lives in Florida, and will never leave Florida ... for obvious reasons. He's a reigning fantasy football league champion, knows everything there is to know about NASCAR, and once passed out (briefly!) during a lap around Daytona. He swears they were going 200 mph even though they clearly were not.
