Giants TE Darren Waller Tries Winning Back Ex-Wife Kelsey Plum With Overly Produced New Song

New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is taking a break from dropping footballs (perhaps indefinitely) to drop a new song, dedicated to ex-wife and Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum.

The result only incited concern over Waller's mental health.

Waller, 31, and Plum, 29, split after a year of being married. Plum released a statement on her social media, insinuating some bad behavior from Waller that led to the end of their matrimony.

In an effort to win Plum back (or diss her, we can't tell, honestly), Waller dropped a brand-new track titled "Who Knew (Her Perspective)."

The music video also dropped on Thursday. It features a Kelsey Plum lookalike, whom Waller desperately tries to win back in the video as she drives away in a yellow Jeep.

Despite Waller's best intentions, the project was a doozie.

See for yourself … and try not to sing along.

Waller shared his thoughts on the new single via Instagram:

"On February 3, I felt a strong conviction to do something different. I’d never written a song from the perspective of someone else until this. There’s something extremely valuable (and quite humbling lol) about putting yourself in the shoes of those you have been intimate with and taking an honest look at yourself. The only result possible is growth."

The music video was a headache, from the awkward choreography to Waller's overly auto-tuned singing.

Waller alerted the Giants that he is considering retirement, likely due to his off-the-field problems, which remain paramount after all that Waller has endured.

After playing for the Baltimore Ravens from 2015 to 2018, Waller took time away from football to rehab from substance abuse issues. He led a miraculous comeback effort with the Las Vegas Raiders, going as far as securing a 2020 Pro Bowl nod as he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards that season. Waller eclipsed the 1K receiving mark back-to-back (2019-2020) and quickly ascended into an elite pass-catching tight end.

The former Pro Bowler signed with New York last offseason, hoping to revitalize the G-Men's passing attack but falling way short of expectations.

At this point, Giants fans — much like Waller — should come to grips with reality and understand that the person you'd hope would return may be gone forever.

Waller remains absent from Giants OTAs.
