Get Ready To Hit 'Mute': LeBron Launches Podcast With JJ Redick
Get two of the most self-important people in basketball, stick them in a room with microphones and you've got a new podcast featuring LeBron James and retired NBA player J.J. Redick hosting a podcast.
Yeah … so King James, who ‘hates’ the spotlight, announced his brand-new podcasting endeavor alongside Redick; the project is titled, "Mind the Game," which promotes itself as a podcast for guys interested in the X's and O's of basketball.
In a statement to the New York Post, James flaunted the podcast as being ‘different’ amid the over-saturated market of NBA podcasts. As James proved with his "The Shop" show, don't expect The King to talk only about basketball, having used that previous platform as an echo chamber for his opinions about the NBA and social issues.

"I'm really proud of what we've done to innovate in sports media," James said in a statement to the Post's Andrew Marchand. "… When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with Mind the Game. Everything doesn't need to be designed for internet culture and clicks."
Right, so if the show is tailored to entertain him and his friends, expect another cheap display of self-aggrandizing, á la Shannon Sharpe (seriously, who can listen to that garbage and call it entertaining).
By now, people know what they're getting with LeBron James, and if we're being honest, listening to a podcast featuring one of the best basketball players of all-time is an interesting enough pitch.

Then there's J.J. Redick, who's outed himself during his segments on ESPN as being extremely vain whenever he receives pushback for his glib analysis.
Redick already hosts a podcast with Tim Legler titled, "The Old Man and The Three." (Who's who in that title? Beats me.)
Transitioning to a full-time pod with LeBron under a self-assigned guise as a basketball guru should only pump up that massive ego.

Redick previously vouched for Ja Morant to receive a lighter suspension by the league after Morant brandished weapons on his social media. So expect another pro-player, NBA podcast with these two. As if the world needed another one.
The inaugural episode of "Mind the Game" arrives Tuesday and will be scheduled for weekly releases. Thank God for books.
