Former USMNT Star Eric Wynalda Named In Battery Involving A Teen: Report

Former USMNT star Eric Wynalda was named in a battery report that took place at a youth soccer game earlier this month.

Wyanlda, who made 106 appearances and scored 34 goals in his international career from 1990-2000, was coaching his son’s youth soccer game when his son got injured. According to video obtained by TMZ, Wynalda was predictably displeased with the player who hurt his son (he did not return to the match).

After the tackle took place, players from the opposing team evidently started to trash talk Wynalda (also seen in clips from TMZ). According to police reports, one of the opposing players said somewhere in the argument that Wynalda called him a "b—h" and that he insulted his mother.

Things then got way more out of hand when an opposing player pushed Wynalda and another threw a ball at him. Another opposing player said he suffered scratches in the altercation, but admitted that he didn’t know if Wynalda was the one who scratched him or not.

The former American soccer star has called the accusations nonsense, despite being named in the battery report. From the videos, it does seem like Wynalda did his best to stay away from engaging in any physical altercations with the opposing players.

Wynalda is 54 years old and has six children.
